April McNeely

April McNeely, soprano, has been a featured soloist with many symphony orchestras including The Detroit Symphony Orchestra, The Renaissance City Chamber Players, The Pontiac Symphony Orchestra The Oakway Symphony and the San Jose Symphony.

Operas roles include Cherubino in Mozart's Marriage of Figaro, Bess in Gershwin's Porgy and Bess, Laetitia in Menotti's The Old Maid and the Thief, Gianetta in Donizetti's L'exlier d'Amore, Cinderella in Rossini's La Cenerentola, Dido in Purcell`s Dido and Aeneas, Mignon in Ambroise Thomas`s Mignon, Adalgisa in Bellini`s Norma.

Awards include Distinguished Musician Award from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, Michigan Foundation for the Arts Emerging Artist Award, Oakway Symphony Young Artist Award, Pontiac Symphony Young Artist Award, Regional Finalist in Metropolitan Opera Competition, the John F. Engerson memorial award and the Robert Bornfield Memorial Scholarship.

Her work as a featured soloist in major choral works include Handel Messiah, Bach Magnificat, Mozart Requiem, Haydn Lord Nelson Mass, Poulenc Gloria, Vivaldi Gloria, Fauré Requiem, Resphigi Laud to the Nativity, Mozart Regina Coeli, Handel O Sing Unto the Lord, Mozart Coronation Mass, Rossini Stabat Mater, and Schubert Mass in G.

April McNeely is now the Music Director of the Menlo Park Chorus.
