REVIEWS

Dear Maestro,

Words can hardly describe how much I enjoyed the June 3rd performance.

Scott Krijnen's cello concerto was wonderful. Perfect intonation, timing, and interpretation; every note memorized. How fun to see the well deserved standing ovation. I should have brought flowers myself. Thank you Scott. Wow!

How special to see and hear Joseph Wright perform. He is such a showman and his voice is thrilling. See him only once and one is a fan for life. I've had the joy of seeing him perform three times. His talent is extraordinary. His performances are breathtaking. I expect him to achieve international acclaim. When that occurs, you and the SVS musicians will enjoy life-long bragging rights.

L'Arlesienne Suite No. 1 was performed to near perfection, and the finale (Ride of the Valkyries) completed the evening with excitement and power. Loved the horns. Wow! Please use restraint during your next performance. Glass can be broken and foundations cracked. No need to endure the expense of building repairs after a concert. If you choose to crank it one more notch, I suggest you have paramedics on hand.

The entire orchestra performed so well. I've never seen so many smiles on the faces of musicians during a concert. It was obvious they enjoyed the evening as much as the audience. That they are unpaid makes the performance extremely special. It's like enjoying a rare treat from next door neighbors who happen to have outstanding talent.

What a special evening. Ultimately this was YOUR concert and we all thank you.

Dear Susan and Michael,

I have to tell you how much I enjoyed the "Silicon Valley Symphony" Saturday night at the Presbyterian Church in Los Gatos.

The program choices were all outstanding and particularly to my liking.

The Dvorak "Cello Concerto" was heavenly; the soloist and the symphony playing so elegantly together I did feel like I was in heaven. Sitting in the beautiful sanctuary surrounded by the marvelous gift of music I found myself thanking God for all of it. I thanked Him that I was able to be there with my son in that beautiful space enjoying the talents of my dear friends and all those wonderful people in the symphony.

The remarkable and exquisite voice of Joseph Wright added to the depth of beauty of the evening.  I was particularly moved by the" Evening Star" which was one of my mother's favorite pieces.

It truly was a very spirit filled evening and a blessing for me. Thank God for music and the people who bring it to us.  God bless you, Michael and Susan, and may you continue to do your good works always.

With loving gratitude

Dearest Michael,

Wow! What a beautiful surprise a CD in the mail from you! Thank you so much! I will be putting into my portable CD player just as soon as I send this email.

It was a Glorious Concert!!! Everything about it was elegant & superb. You really know how to put everything together - the music, musicians and that fantastic man, singer, actor, Joseph Wright! I am truly a dedicated fan of you both!  Scott Krijnen is the absolute Cello Artist!  He plays the cello with such ease and emotion that I felt like I could go up there and do the same. Believe me - I could not! Every concert you put together seems like the best one - and that is so.

Michael:

Thanks again for the tremendous concert on Saturday night. The orchestra sounds better than ever -- all sections shine. The soloists were outstanding and the choice of music was excellent. I am always amazed at your energy in bringing these concerts to life.

Dear Michael,

Thanks again for the great pleasure of playing with this orchestra.

I so appreciate the respect, enthusiasm, and joy with which you lead this orchestra. I love the way you include children in the audience and ask them to stand as valued listeners. I feel so grateful to have played all the music you have chosen for us this year, in an orchestra which combines high level playing with an open-hearted, generous attitude toward music and one another.

with gratitude,

Lorna

Hi Michael,

Irene and I were thrilled to be part of this concert.

Michael -

I have an audience quote for you about Scott. My friend was sitting next to a woman who remarked after Scott's solo, "Gorgeous and talented!"

Laura

Michael,

I'm so happy Erik contacted me for this gig. When I saw a few people near the front covering their ears during the Ride I knew we were doing our job. Thanks for the heads up on Pictures. I'll have my F tuba chops ready for the Bydlo.

-Mike
